PROJECT 02 [ Writing Script for Interactive Narrative]

Instructions

To develop a full interactive script based on the proposal submitted in Project 1. Students will translate their interactive narrative concept into a detailed script that accounts for branching choices, alternate pathways, dialogue options, and dynamic storytelling structures.

Process
I started by drafting a brief idea on the flow of my storyline. Based on my Project 01: Proposal, I thought it would be a good idea to start the story off with a fixed narrative to sort of give the character a background. Allowing players to understand the motive of the storyline and introduce the main theme of the story.

Followed by the main interactive narrative, I wanted to have two sections that gave the character clues on how to complete the game. Keeping in mind that there should be at least 2 major decision points, hence I thought it would be a good idea to add a section where players are prompted to restart based on their decision. This would then cut the story short and draw engagement in the alternate narratives.

However, as I'm unfamiliar with script writing. It was quite a struggle to structure the script in a way that allowed different choices to jump to different storylines. Therefore, resulting in a relatively linear script.

Flowchart
Additionally, we were also told to provide a flowchart to show the narrative direction for clarity.
