PROJECT 03: CHANNEL IDENT / IDENTITY
Instructions
Using the same brand we chose in Task 2, we are required to
create a channel ident motion graphic video.
Following are the requirements for submission:
(Progress should be compiled and presented in a
Slide)
1. Mood-board
2. Storyboard
3. Animatics
4. Explore appropriate audio to uplift the motion
tempo.

LOVE MAYA - Skin care and Bath Brand based in Malaysia.

It is a nature themed brand that focuses on nostalgic and
comfort scents; hence the overall aesthetic is clean and
simple in neutral tones.

Sketches
During out tutorial session, we were told to stick to using the
brand's existing contents and photographs. So, we picked Jia
Yi's sketch idea of compiling different product photographs to
animate. We also wanted to showcase the alternate lotion product
under the same name, hence pairing the bottle together for each
scent.
Chosen Photographs
These are the official photographs we chose, from the brand's
website and social media. Then, we extended the background using
"Generative AI" in Adobe Photoshop, to fit the video frame of
1920 x 1080.
Once, we extended the photos. We cropped out the bottles so
that we can get an empty background for our transition
frame.
While doing this, Jia Yi worked on removing the background for the lotion bottles that we will be pairing with the main shampoo product. Then, we uploaded all the elements in pdf and photoshop files into a shared drive.
Storyboard
Once we had all the element files, we compiled
everything into a storyboard according to the previous
sketches. This just gives us a clearer depiction on how
to animate, after arranging the frames properly.
Animatics
A preview of our storyboard imported into Premier
Pro for compilation and to check for timing.
Motion and Transitions
Jia Yi was in charge of working on the motions and
transition; simultaneously communicating with me to
see what can be changed for improved for smoother
motion.
Effects
Once Jia Yi was done with the motion, text and
transitions, she passed the file to me to work on the
effects. I started working on the glow effect
first.
I started by tracing out the shape of the bottle, then adjusting the stroke to 5px and white as a base. A glow effect was also added a layer above the stroke layer to get a subtle but impactful glow trace. Initially, I also added a light ray effect but found that it didn't fit too well.
Another effect I added to each product display frame
were light effects. I felt that using these light
effects can further emphasize and highlight the product
to look classier. Each scent name had a different
light effect.
OCEAN > Light ray effect
SUNRISE > CC Light Sweep
EARTH > CC Spotlight
Furthermore, I custom designed a smoke effect to add to
the sunrise frame as I felt that it fit the mood of the
original photograph.
