Project 2A: Double Exposure
(Week 07) - Double Exposure Self-Portrait
For this submission, we need to take a portrait photo of
ourselves and collect high-resolution background photos
online. Then, we need to import these photos into adobe
photoshop and edit them to black and white/monochrome. Once
the photos are set, we need to make our own "Double
Exposure" photo. The image should be (1920x1080) landscape
or (1080x1920) portrait.

Result:
Reflection: Personally, I think this task was alright. It wasn't particularly enjoyable as double exposure is not something that I truly admire. However, it is definitely a fun part of photoshop that utilises different skills to mask and layer one photo after the other. As for my final photo, I don't really like it too much but I think it was a good try for my first attempt.
Project 2B: Poster Design
(Week 08 - Week11) - Poster Design
According to the given theme of "Equality" from < TISDC 2024 POSTER COMPETITION > . We are required to create a poster design composition using elements of photograph, typography and vector graphics.

Topic Research: Women and mothers often make significant sacrifises that impact their economic opportunities, education, health and overall well-being. They disproportionately shoulder unpaid care and domestic work, face gender pay gaps, and endure health risks during pregnancy and childbirth. Societal norms frequently restrict their autonomy and personal growth, while cultural expectations and gender-based violence further constrain their lives. Additionally, they encounter challenges in accessing resources like land, property and financial services and are underrepresented in political and decision-making roles. Women are made to feel as though they are inferior to the values of men despite the burdens they bear.
Initial Idea:
fig 4.1 initial composition idea
Description: Initially I photoshopped these two images together and wanted to add more elements like the different struggles that a mother would face. However, I felt it would have been too crowded and wasn't certain on how to proceed so I didn't end up proceeding with this initial progress.
Photo elements used:

fig 6.3 elements added using Illustrtator| fig 6.4 adjustment layers in ai
Description: So for this idea, I blended a few images that represent the struggles of a working mother into a pregnant lady's stomach. This is to express that when a women becomes a mother, they are still subject to further stress and struggles that they have to face. Then I added the background colour and some elements to fill up the empty spaces without taking away the main subject; but also to showcase the "outside" and "inside" difference of emotions that a woman goes through when pregnant. On the outside, everyone and the society will congratulate and tell them it's a joy to be a mother and that they should be happiest. In contrast, society turns their back on the struggles that a women has to face internally.

Reflection: I can't say I am very proud of this design because I lacked in idea and creative execution. However, it was a fun exercise that helped me improve and utilise the skills learned in class. Overall, I would maybe pay more attention to spatial composition and texture to add more depth to the poster.
